Yes, this is going to be controversial. The new video release of “The Dawn” is the first song from a full volume of music called “Streetlamps” created solely via artificial intelligence sources. As a former professional recording and gigging drummer, AI allows me to create various music projects to play drums to for fun – I’m old. Subsequent recordings will have drum performance videos with re-recorded drum tracks – this gives me another creative outlet.

Drummers have mostly been replaced and/or minimized by technology for quite some time now, I wanted to demonstrate a different perspective, and how artificial intelligence can allow drummers to create it all now, if inclined to do so. Nothing beats human creativity imo, but… this sure is fun and beats having to deal with most human singers 🙂

Is it perfect, no – there are some mistakes in there. Who cares. I’m still learning a lot of the nuances along the way.

AI is an incredible tool for drummers. It allows me to generate any style of music to play to, experiment with new styles, and push creative boundaries—all on my own and at my pace. I’m not rushed in the re-recording of drum tracks, can now do as many takes as I want and experiment as much as I want. Traditionally, drummers would rely on other musicians or pre-recorded tracks to develop ideas. With AI, that limitation disappears. Tools powered by artificial intelligence can instantly generate evolving rhythms, textures, and song structures, giving drummers a dynamic and endlessly adaptable musical environment to explore.

To be honest, I love it.

Currently I have two volumes of music, each volume has 7-10 songs. This one, “Streetlamps”, follows a story line of a horrific abduction of an early morning jogger and their partner dreaming about it as it occurred. Other songs surround the aftermath, impact and turmoil of this event. The other volume of music is another concept story line about the dangers of artificial intelligence and long term impact on humanity – all created by AI – I thought the irony in that was epic, lol.
